Search

Consequence provides powerful search and filtering capabilities across all content types to help you quickly find and manage your narrative data.

Search Forms

  • Available on all major tabs (Write, Organize, Trigger, Strings).
  • Search by names, content, statuses, tags, and other relevant fields.
  • Supports exact matches (using quotes) and partial matches.
  • Filter by Writing Status, Recording Status, Deleted/Active status.
  • Use tag filters with support for negation (e.g., !tagname). The tag filter is an "AND" filter.

Saved Searches

  • Save your frequently used search queries for quick access.
  • Load saved searches from yourself or all users.
  • Rename or delete your own saved searches as needed.
  • Access saved searches via the search form or the saved searches popup.

Search Results

  • Results are displayed in a Table View for all tabs except when in Writing View or Branching View.
    • When in Writing or Branching view, the view will be populated with all lines from the event selected in the event list sidebar, even if the search filters your event down to only some lines. That is because these views always present a holistic view of the entire event.
  • Table view supports several features:
    • Pagination controls allow browsing large result sets.
    • Select multiple rows for bulk editing, exporting, or playing audio.
    • Right-click a column's header to bring up visibility options for columns.

Search Tips

  • Use the Event Name filter to narrow lines to a specific event.
  • Use Tags filters to find lines or events using your own custom organizational tags.
  • Use UIDs to jump to specific lines by their unique IDs.
  • Use the View Toggle buttons to switch between Table, Writing, and Branching views.
