Another option (other than the recommended Use the New Line Box, or the more powerful Use the Events Wizard) is to create an empty event with no lines.

The benefits of this method are:

• you can configure all the properties of the event at the moment you create it
• you don't need to know what character will be speaking in your event yet

The downsides are:

• because this event has no lines, it will not turn up if you search on the Write tab, so you will need to add a first line to it using the new line box when you are ready to write.
